I’ve described my work as Abstract Landscape. Abstract, because it is the sense of place, time and connection to the landscape that interests me.

A dog walk in an autumn field. Driving on the way to a friend’s place, past the tree that is always first to come into blossom.

Landscapes of the everyday and landscapes of my memory.

I was born, raised and went to school in Singapore, where the layering of different cultures is visually intense. So colour is incredibly important in my work, it is part of my story.

I also sailed a lot as a kid and used to dive. The reference to water, sea and sky has always been a strong thread through a lot of my work… my strongest memories growing up.

But I am now a grandmother and live in the heart of the English countryside, where my dogs and I embrace the cold, wet and grey, and rejoice when the skies are blue and spring finally arrives!

The sky, here where I live, is wide and open. It is this massive presence that constantly reminds me of how connected we all are.
Maybe the essence of my work is just a big old mix of memories, space and time… or perhaps I am simply marking time.
